Instrument
Proficiency Check

For pilots needing to renew or maintain their instrument flying privileges in:
🔹Single Engine
🔹Multi Engine
I conduct thorough IPCs in line with CASA requirements. As a current CASA-approved examiner and Grade 1 IFR instructor, I bring extensive operational experience to each check, ensuring it’s not just a pass/fail exercise but an opportunity for objective improvement.
Initial Instrument
Rating Test

More than a decade of operational experience gleaned beyond the training environment in piston, multi-engine, and complex pressurised turbine aircraft facilitates my delivery of initial instrument rating flight training to CASA Part 61 standards and the Flight Examiner Handbook. Candidates benefit from a calm and structured testing environment underpinned by practical insight into real-world IFR operations, rather than the training syllabus only.
Contracting Availability

I am available to flying schools, charter organisations, and training providers on a contract basis as an instructor/examiner for:

ABOUT
About Precision Approach
At Precision Approach, the mission is clear: bridge the gap between IFR training and real-world safety.
An initiative by a CASA-approved Instrument Rated Examiner and Grade 1 IFR instructor, Precision Approach was born from a deep interest in accident investigation and the recognition that many IFR pilots are not equipped with the training they truly need.
Backed by over a decade of multi-engine experience in piston and turbine IFR operations — the goal isn’t just to tick boxes. It’s to raise the bar.
Years of checking and training in real-world IFR conditions have presented me a front-row perspective of our systems’ current short-falls. Lax habits, vague briefings, and hurried checks are far too common. At Precision Approach, you won’t just be tested—you’ll walk away a sharper, more competent pilot.
Based in Melbourne and available Australia-wide, I offer honest, no-nonsense assessments, augmented by high-quality digital resources designed to enhance your pre and post flight performance.
Safety isn’t mere paperwork. It’s understanding, along with discipline and precision in the cockpit. The kind that is developed by continuous self-improvement and targeted, intentioned practice.
